Babelfish Consulting

Babelfish Consulting is a freelance journalism, copywriting, editing and research consultancy. With over 15 years experience as a writer-for-hire, sub-editor, copywriter, journalist and co-author at Arbon Publishing, director H Morgan-Harris creates, wrangles and untangles copy into its most efficient and powerful form.

From the Sports Desk is a passion project that details H’s search for Australiana…

Department of Nothing

What is the Department of Nothing? A simple idea, a no bullshit collaboration, an ethically produced range of quality products based in the belly of Sydney’s Inner West.

A suprise party, a smudge of hope on the horizon, a gust of fresh air, a soundsystem thats too big, a leaf blower full of glitter at fashion week. A team of friends making something honest. A cottage industry existing before the cottage gets torn down to make apartments. The smell of a burning piano as the house is filled with beautiful music.

What/ who are we? We are a small collective of people funnelling energy in the right way. We’re selling ethically produced shirts, caps and sweatshirts, designed and printed locally. Not made by children.

We’re making and selling small runs (25-50) of our designs and a whole bunch of one off unique stuff. Our 40 things in 40 days project is us printing a single t shirt with a silkscreen that we’ve hoarded for years and never used it its full potential, then erasing the screen and being done with it.

We strive to be ourselves. Largely steered by Chris Lego and his ruthless design aesthic we’re aiming to make every day a bit weirder than the one before it. We handprint our shit and still believe in original mischief. Come say high to us in St Peters, Sydney sometime.

Australian Home Living

Australian Home Living seeks out the new, the curious, the hard-to-find and one-off vintage items from Sydney and around the world.
We are inspired by products that bring an added experience to them. Be that kits to build or learn a new skill, interesting up-cycled items and those unique items that would be at home in your cabinet of curiosities.
We are also passionate about sourcing from small designers and makers who produce unique products sustainability and locally.

Furniture Legs

Furniture legs sources legs for cabinets, tables, benches and sofas from many manufactures.  Specialising in small orders they can even custom make legs to your specifications.

Circular Square

A leading designer and branding expert, Azelia Maynard is the director of Circular Square and employed by Ogilvy PR.

Vertel

Vertel telecommunications go above and beyond standard telcos, offering fixed and mobile networks, site facilities, network applications and professional services. In their own words,

We are not caught up in the political debates around where and when the NBN will be delivered. We are not beholden to incumbent carriers in reselling their networks. We are designing, investing in and building our ownfixed broadband telecommunications infrastructure.

Nor are we worried about what the mobile carriers are doing with their networks. We are busy delivering private mobile radio networks for organisations with mission and life critical requirements. We want to leave a legacy.

bka+d

Bettina Kaiser art + design (BKA+D) is the studio of Bettina Kaiser, graphic and web designer and visual artist. A professional designer for over 15 years, Bettina, together with her team, creates designs that unite powerful visuals with effective technical solutions.

Harriet McKern & Fran Tinley

Harriet is a film Director and Writer. Her latest work, Backwards Showgirl Variation screened at Flickerfest this year. It features Janine Burchett as an optimistic pole dancing instructor who finds herself homeless, single and penniless in Sydney’s inner west. Her previous films include Lipstick, the search for the perfect red lipstick, the black comedy Look Into My Eyes and Somewhere Between Light and Reflection, a documentary about Australian installation artist Joan Brassil. Harriet is currently finishing a short about fantasy and text messaging starring Lauren Orrell and Steve Le Marquand and developing a six part comedy series based on Backwards Showgirl Variation. She has also been General Manager of the Australian Directors Guild and sat on John Lennon’s knee (as a baby!).

Fran is a Producer and Director specialising in factual content for TV, corporate and online. Broadcast credits include programmes for BBC UK, FoxUSA, ABC, SBS and Networks Nine and Ten. She has just completed the documentary Welcome to Kandos – the cementing of an unlikely friendship about the culture clash of a contemporary art festival in the cement producing town of Kandos in rural NSW. Fran also writes, shoots and produces video for individuals, businesses, organisations and artists. Her clients include Médecins Sans Frontières, Reclaim the Streets, Salvation Army, various indigenous groups and individual artists. She also pursues her own practice in photography and exhibited in 2009 at the Sydney Fringe.
