Harriet McKern & Fran Tinley

Harriet is a film Director and Writer. Her latest work, Backwards Showgirl Variation screened at Flickerfest this year. It features Janine Burchett as an optimistic pole dancing instructor who finds herself homeless, single and penniless in Sydney’s inner west. Her previous films include Lipstick, the search for the perfect red lipstick, the black comedy Look Into My Eyes and Somewhere Between Light and Reflection, a documentary about Australian installation artist Joan Brassil. Harriet is currently finishing a short about fantasy and text messaging starring Lauren Orrell and Steve Le Marquand and developing a six part comedy series based on Backwards Showgirl Variation. She has also been General Manager of the Australian Directors Guild and sat on John Lennon’s knee (as a baby!).

Fran is a Producer and Director specialising in factual content for TV, corporate and online. Broadcast credits include programmes for BBC UK, FoxUSA, ABC, SBS and Networks Nine and Ten. She has just completed the documentary Welcome to Kandos – the cementing of an unlikely friendship about the culture clash of a contemporary art festival in the cement producing town of Kandos in rural NSW. Fran also writes, shoots and produces video for individuals, businesses, organisations and artists. Her clients include Médecins Sans Frontières, Reclaim the Streets, Salvation Army, various indigenous groups and individual artists. She also pursues her own practice in photography and exhibited in 2009 at the Sydney Fringe.
